July 11th: The aftermath
After setting the “mintytours.com” website to “go live” at about midnight last night, it was a struggle to get up for dawn. We were out by 5.50AM and did a 2 hour tour round the Abbotswood estate and Nether Swell. On top of this, I had a visit from the mayor and his fiance, Ben […]
8th July: Lunchtime Social
We did another 4 hour walk, repeating yesterday’s route. A half-way brew at the hump-back bridge over the Dikler in the Abbotswood Estate was very welcome. Friends living off the Cricket Field had a lunch-time party. However coming out of the shower I discovered a skelf in my big toe. If you can sit in […]
7th July: The dulcit tones of Chris Lesley, Fairport Convention
We did a 4 hour walk from 6PM (19kg pack), taking in The Battle of Stow war memorial; Donnington Brewery; Abbotswood to Lower Swell; Hyde Mill, and along the old railway line closed by Dr. Beaching, to Maugersbury, and home. Chris Lesley of Fairport Vonvention fame, was playing in the church in Adderbury, where he […]
6th July: A 6PM lie-in
Yesterday was emotionally tiring. Also the real reason was because I went to “The Queens Head” (pub) after the meeting! We did a 2 hour walk around Upper Swell, Lower Swell and Nether Swell: collectively “The Swells”. All nestlng above the River Dikler. As is traditional on a Friday night in Stow-on-the-Wold, everyone heads for […]
July 5th: AGM panic
Today iy is the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Stow-on-the-Wold Community Land Trust (Stow CLT). An organisation that I set up almost exactly 3 years ago, to provide truly affordable housing for the people who live or work in Stow-on-the-Wold, our charming historic market town, set in the middle of the Cotswolds. Where kids […]
July 4th: Independence Day for some!
Those poor souls at WPLive who came in to work, whilst the rest of America was on holiday, deserve a medal! We struggled on the formating of my Diary and the Dogs Diary and finally got there at nearly 11PM my time! In between times, it has been another hot day, so the dogs and […]
Happy and Topsy sleep in a tent
Happy and Topsy sleep in a tent “C-r-r-r-r-aaaaw!” “Is that you Happy?” “C-r-r-r-r-aaaaw!” “ No. Is that you Topsy?” “C-r-r-r-r-aaaaw, C-r-r-r-r-aaaaw!” “No. It’s MASTER!” they exclaimed in horror. “And he’s SNORING!” C-r-r-r-r-aaaaw!” went master. “Do you think he is unwell?” said Happy. “Better give him a lick” said Topsy. Happy, who had been licking her […]
July 3rd: Website going live soon
The dogs and I did our usual 5AM two hour walk, then a 4k run for me. Then chained to the computer! I am slowly starting to navigate around the complexities of WordPress, as my self-mposed deadline of publishing on the 1st July has slipped. I still need to conquer audio files. Also there […]
July 2nd: Recovery Day!
After yesterdays’s 26k walk, we took things easy today. Only a 2 hour walk for the dogs before their breakfast, leaving at 5AM to keep the temperature cool. Master went out in the evening with the Cheltenham and Cotswold Hash House Harriers, and ran over 4 miles from the pub in Broad Campden.
