Aug 13 Day29 Le Châtignier35
Covered 20k today, but as Topsy tired, didn’t do the final 3k into Marigny-Laillé, and camped in a field. There is a lot of cow pats, so hope they don’t drive a herd through early in the morning!
Terrain again good going with wide forestry paths, mainly with nice sandy surface, which is kind on the dog’s feet.
4k outside the last village we came across a châtagnier. A unique tree with the trunk of an oak and possibly the only one in the world. A forester that I later met said that it had edible fruit, which are a favourite of wild boar!
Stopped at 2.30 in St.-Mars- d’Ouitilé and had to wait for 3PM for store to open, as am nearly out of food. No baguettes, so am eating sliced bread for the first 5time in 4 weeks!
