Aug 30 A good decision
Last night we had decided not to push on the 4k to St Perdoux and had camped in a field.
We didb’t leave till 9.00AM, so a late start. Arrived in St. Perdoux to find that the Bar-Tabac was permanently closed, and got water from the cemetery . Was about to leave when I said ‘hello’ to a man leaning over his wall. We chatted and he invited me in for coffee! They were Michell and Viviane and I was very grateful .
Terrain fairy flat with some undulation, through a mixture of farmer’s tracks and blacktop. So did a good pace and Topsy coping although there is some rubbing of the skin behind her dew claw, so gave bandaged tgat too.
Arrived here in Champdenieres, and after visiting the boulangerie and the butchers, ascertained that there was both a gite AND camping off the Place Paradis. Unfortunately the gite was full, but they did free camping wuth hot showers for randoneurs, so that is where we are. It is more like camping in someone’s back garden!
The Restaurant Paradis kindly agreed to cook that evening and after hastily feeding, medicating the dogs and showering me, I got there after 7.30. Joined the cyclists that I had met at St Perdoux.
Really nice to have a cooked dinner and many thanks to the chef!
