Sept 11 Montembœuf
Spent the morning tidying up after last night, as the cottage here is immaculately clean and maintaining the standard is a challenge!
Then took Happy to Montembœuf. A 11k round trip that I had designed so that I arrived after 2PM when the shops would be open.
The boulangerie was férméd. (Open 4PM).
The supermarket was férméd ( open 3PM).
The boucherie was férméd.
To my great relief, a Bar-Tabac WAS open. So I had a beer, an ice cream and a baguette that I spied in the ice-cream freezer!
Came home in a round trip of about 4 hours which I thought was good going. Then took Topsy out who seems a bit improved; so will take her out on a longer walk tomorrow. Got home from the walk with Topsy to find some French army rations on my doorstep! Antoin must have kindly dropped them off. Again, I will be limited by weight in my backpack, so may only be able to take a few. A kind thought all the same.
Arrived back and got Alan and Julien to be photographed by their Pineau kit and breadmaking kit.
Took Topsy for a short walk and she wasn’t limping. So a bigger test walk tomorrow.
