Sept 25 Refuge du Triby
Left Mazimet on market day, so stocked up with bread and cheese. The kind lady on the cheese stall plied us with cheese rind for the dogs.
A steep climb out, and at one point was beseigef by 30 schoolkids, staying at some outdoor centre, all wanting to meet the dogs! At the top of the hill, and not on the map, wad a 100m suspension bridge with slats: a Happy nightmare! Luckily our route kept us on our side of the valley, so Happy was spared.
- Then came across one of those lovely mule tracks. Great gentle gradient zig-zags that ascended the side of the hill at a gradient suitable for a loaded mule: in this case me with a 20+kg pack! Nice soft sandy soil for Topsy. Ended up at a rfuge: a wall-less open building with a fireplace at one end with concrete tables and benches. The wind was whipping up, so gathered wood and lit a fire in our solitide.
