Sept 28 GR7 Re-routed
Set off today with limited charge to my phone and hence my ability to use the maps. This lead to a problem when I suddenly realised that I was 1k north of the GR7 route pn my map, even though I was following GR7 signs! I think it had been re-routed due to logging, and at one point the path dissapeared totally into a fresly logged area and I had to improvise. Luckily I still had power to get a GPS signal and was very relieved to hit the Col du Cabarétou. Then my phone died and I am left mapless and with no GR7 markings ad they have been removed. So a slightly anxiius atart tomorrow.
A lot of wind again on the Col. This time pointed the tent thin end first into the wind with a dramatic improvement in stability. Little wind flap and a goof airodynamic shape.
Water stilll a problem, although more streams for the dogs, but often not where you needed them at a stop.
Again no internet connection at the Col, so this has been added later. Also had no battery left! The Orange solar charger really is very innefective strapped to the top of a rucksack. The Anker one that was pinched was miles better and even charged the battery packs. The reolacemen Orange battery pack obly charged to 50%, possibly due to using a fast charger and the battery mechanics. It didn’t hold its charge so is pretty useless and will be returned to Orange when I get a chance!
