Three months ago, on July 17, Minty Tours hit the road in Ftance.

Thtee months later, we are sitting in a restaurant in Bagnoles sur l’Orne, with a ferry ticket to Porysmouth from Caen at 23.00 tomorrow. Today it took 2 hours to drove what had taken me 2 weeks to walk. I noticed roads that I had crossed; places signposted that I had visited; tree claf ridges where I had probably ealked while the road took the valley route. The Romans obviously thought this was the better way, as the roads were dead straight!

The gite was full, so I am sleeping on the kitchen floor. I thought very spartan, then a mattess appeared! Presented Père Eoc Andrè with a Scallop shell from the Med, to match the one that he had given me as the mark of a pilgrim on the Route St. Jacques.

He sniffed the shell and said

“Ah! La mere!”

I also gave him 3 bottles of wine and a cooked chicken. So I have been invited to lunch tomorrow.

Now I have finished my duck curry with taglietelle and it is time to get the tiech out and head home. Our last night in France!
