July19-Day 4. Frenchness and Flatness
Some things uniquely French happened today:
• They still have those disgusting “hole in the ground” toilets.
• A pedestrian using GPS, should be aware that when the voice aays “take the first exit off the roundabout”, it means turn right.
• In tbis mussel growing haven, of Le Vivier-sur-mer, the latest mussel gathering craft is a WW2 landing craft with wheels.
Then suddenly, after the château at Point de Château Richeux, the terrain changed from Cornwall-like high tree lined lanes, to flat, Dutch-like flat monotony. A real slog along seemingly endless tracks. Finally reached Le Vivier-sur-mer, where Memory Maps showed a campsite. It turned out to be for campervans only, but a kindly french lady said I should camp there anyway, so I did. Fed the dogs on their new 2kg pack of dog-food and in true lsbradpr fashion they wolfed the
lot! No problem in change of diet there! Popped down the road to a restauranr opposite the Mussel (Moule) factory and had my first two french bier pression, which were very welcome indeed.
